Looking forward to the Commonwealth games

February 25, 2006

Montreal - A competition at last! Training is enjoyable but after a few weeks of training in Pointe Claire, I look forward to the adrenaline of competition.

'm eager to compete in the Commonwealth Games, especially since the competition there will be of very high caliber. I will be up against the gold medalist and the bronze medalist of the Athens’s Olympics (the Australians Chantele Newbery and Loudy Tourky). I'm aiming for gold, but given the level of competition a place on the podium wouldn't be a disgrace.

I'm also competing in the 3M event, but competing on the 3 M springboard is essentially a way of preparing me for the 3 M synchro. Blythe Hartley is undoubtedly the favorites for gold in the 3 M, but after her the competition is quite open. A place on the podium would be great.

Blythe and I would be the favorites for the gold for the 3 M synchro, but, unfortunately, Blythe won't arrive at Melbourne until the day following the competition in that event as she will be representing her university and defending her NCAA title in Los Angeles. It's unfortunate because this would have been a good opportunity to prepare for the 2008 Olympics.

We'll talk again after the games.....Keep writing me. I enjoy hearing your news.

Emilie
